My Twenty-Fourth Week of Pregnancy Update
Baby is the size of a: This week baby is the size of an ear of corn: roughly 12.5 inches and 1.25 pounds!
Total weight gain: Right around 13 pounds.
Maternity clothes: I really need more of these. Jeans with the belly-band have being a nuisance, lately, and shirts just aren't nearly as long enough anymore. I do have some maternity clothes, but absolutely need more!
Stretch marks: Not thus far!
Sleep: Sleep is wonderful and I love and crave it all the time. I toss and turn a lot, alternating laying on my right and my left side, but seem to be able to fall asleep fairly easily. I definitely have been waking up a LOT during the night to go pee, and sometimes this is annoying, but luckily, lately, I am able to fall right back asleep. Which makes the disturbance less bothersome.
Exercise: Walking and stretching still. The other night Jarad and I took a nice long walk around our neighborhood in the evening just the two of us. No dogs, no phones, no distractions. It was really nice to just be able to regroup with my favorite human being at the end of the day - and the walk made me feel so rejuvenated! I am going to really try and get outside in the evenings while I can still enjoy the weather, before it gets too cold, because getting fresh air in my lungs and to baby is so much more refreshing than walking on a treadmill!
Miss anything: Not particularly. Maybe just getting a full, uninterrupted eight hours of sleep at night, but I can live with the interruptions.
Movement: Yes! I am still shocked and surprised and excited by this DAILY. I always have either my hand on my stomach to feel what's happening, or I am looking down at it to watch. So, so fun and exciting and cute watching this little baby jump around all over the place! Lately I have been getting movement in two places at once - or in one place and then, immediately following, another - which is awesome because that means baby is getting bigger! However, one of the most recent additions to this movement has been baby dancing either on my bladder or my cervix.. I dont really know which... But, let's just say, I feel like I am legitimately getting kicked in the vagina. But from the inside. And every time I feel that sensation I have a quick moment of "I have to pee!" but then it goes away. It is really weird and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Also, whenever I am asleep on one of my sides I almost always get little baby kicks all the way over on my side in a place I wouldn't have thought the baby could reach. Let me just say, bean can. And I think my skin must be ultra-thin there because it feels like a hand or foot is pushing against it and it tickles or startles me every time that I literally end up jumping. That one is weird, too...
Food cravings: I'm into sweets lately. I brought candy corn to work and every time I nibble a few pieces bean must get a sugar rush because I get a lot of movement after!
Anything making you queasy or sick: The smell of leftovers.
Gender:
Labor signs: Nope! Fingers crossed that it stays that way until 37+ weeks!
Happy or moody most of the time: Not particularly moody.. Just a little weepy and a little extra lovey-dovey feeling lately. Like nostalgia, but not necessarily for anything in the past. Present-nostalgia. (Is that possible?). Or I just want to cry and snuggle. I'm a mess.
Looking forward to: Meeting the little love inside my belly! I'm really excited to see who is in there and I am enjoying dreaming about that sweet little face. I cant wait to kiss baby cheeks and hands and feet and chunky legs!!
